29 years ago, I spotted this amazing creature and I asked what it was, it was a Briard. I never looked at another breed again, I waited 13 years to get my first Briard. I wanted to have an appropriate home and life to raise my Briard. Blackstone Briards started in 2000 with a beautiful girl named Sophie. My love for this breed grows every day and I cannot image my life without one. They are my children, where ever I go there is always a Briard at my side.
We are a smaller kennel (kennel in my house means the couch, my bed and where ever I am) producing occasional litters. It is our goal to produce Briards with good temperaments, breed-type, functionality (herding, obedience, etc), excellent health, and most importantly, companionship.
I enjoy showing my Briards in the conformation ring. I am very proud of the fact that I am a Breeder-Owner-Handler and I have shown all of my dogs to their Championships, (American & Canadian) and beyond. My first Briard was "Sophie", Am GCH/Can CH Best Betes Rambling Rose HIT, CGC, HOF, American Select 2004, Canadian Select 2003. In 2005, "Sophie" and I were the #1 owner-handled Briard in the country, # 6 all-around.
I am also interested in herding with my Briards. It is exciting to bring a Briard into the ring with the sheep for the first time and watch their instincts kick in. All of my Briards have passed their Herding Instinct Test. I look forward to continuing with their herding education.
These dogs are my heart and soul, life without them would be so empty...
